Care and Maintenance
GFRC fireplace surrounds (outdoor and indoor)
SEALER
Your fireplace surround should be treated with a quality sealer that provides maximum protection against oils, water, and acids. The sealer is freshly applied following installation of product and requires a few weeks to achieve full protection. After this, care must still be taken to maintain your concrete surface.
CARE
- Keep the fireplace surround clean; wipe with damp microfiber cloth once a week.
- Wipe up spills when they occure.
- Use only mild soap and warm water.
- Use coasters or trivets for heavy objects (pots, vases, sculptures).
CAUTION
- Do not clean using any abrasives or chemicals.
- Chips may accure if struck with another hard object and are not easily repaired.
- Acids, vinegar, or fruit juices may leave a light stain.
- Oils may leave a dark stain that will fade over time.
- Sliding heavy or sharp objects across the surface can cause scratches and damage to the sealer.
- Do not cut or use sharp instruments directly on the surface of the surround.
- Do not sit or stand on the surround, especially in valnurable areas.
MAINTENANCE
The appearance of the surface of the surround will likely change over time, due to wear and tear through normal use.
The sealer may wear over time so, if the surface is no longer repelling as normal, please inquire about services to reseal your fireplace surround.
